Original Arabic

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: " مَا خُيِّرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَمْرَيْنِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، إِلَّا اخْتَارَ أَيْسَرَهُمَا " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Aisha that whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) was given a choice between two things in Islam, he (peace be upon him) would choose the easier of the two.
