حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قِيلَ لَهَا: إِنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَرْفَعُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ "، قَالَتْ: وَهِلَ أَبُو، ، عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّمَا قَالَ: " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الْمَيِّتِ يَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِجُرْمِهِ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his family over him. Someone mentioned this to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: They are mistaken. In fact, the Prophet (ﷺ) said that the relatives of the deceased are weeping over him, and he is being punished because of his own sins.
