حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ نَزَعَ خُفَّيْهِ، فَنَظَرُوا إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي قَدْ " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهِمَا، وَلَكِنْ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ الْوُضُوءُ " (١)، ،

Translation

English translation

Ali bin Mudrik says that once I saw Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) taking off his leather socks during ablution. People began to look at him with surprise, so he said, "It is certain that I saw the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) wiping over his leather socks, but I prefer to wash my feet."
