Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ، عَنْ أَبِي سَوْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَسْتَاكُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، وَإِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ صَلَّى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ،، ، وَلَا يَأْمُرُ بِشَيْءٍ، وَيُسَلِّمُ بَيْنَ كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) used to use the miswak two or three times at night. When he would stand to pray at night, he would perform four rak‘ahs, would not speak to anyone nor give any command regarding anything, and he would say salam after every two rak‘ahs.
