حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: " كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنِ الْخَيْرِ وَكُنْتُ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الشَّرِّ "، قِيلَ: لِمَ فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: " مَنْ اتَّقَى الشَّرَّ وَقَعَ فِي الْخَيْرِ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to ask him about good, and I used to ask him about evil. Someone asked the reason for this, so he said: Whoever avoids evil, indeed he does good deeds.
