حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ الْأَحْنَفِ، عَنْ صِلَةَ (١) بْنِ زُفَرَ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً فَافْتَتَحَ الْبَقَرَةَ، فَقُلْتُ يَرْكَعُ عِنْدَ الْمِائَةِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ مَضَى، فَقُلْتُ: يُصَلِّي بِهَا فِي رَكْعَةٍ، فَمَضَى فَقُلْتُ: يَرْكَعُ بِهَا، ثُمَّ افْتَتَحَ النِّسَاءَ فَقَرَأَهَا، ثُمَّ افْتَتَحَ آلَ عِمْرَانَ فَقَرَأَهَا، يَقْرَأُ مُسْتَرْسِلًا، إِذَا مَرَّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا تَسْبِيحٌ سَبَّحَ، وَإِذَا مَرَّ بِسُؤَالٍ سَأَلَ، وَإِذَا مَرَّ بِتَعَوُّذٍ تَعَوَّذَ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: " سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ "، فَكَانَ رُكُوعُهُ نَحْوًا مِنْ قِيَامِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ "، ثُمَّ قَامَ طَوِيلًا قَرِيبًا مِمَّا رَكَعَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَقَالَ: " سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى "، فَكَانَ سُجُودُهُ قَرِيبًا مِنْ قِيَامِهِ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I prayed with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) began Surah Al-Baqarah. When he reached one hundred verses, I thought that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would now bow (ruku‘), but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) continued reciting until he reached two hundred verses. I thought that perhaps now he would bow, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) continued reciting until he completed it. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) began Surah An-Nisa’ and, after reciting it, performed ruku‘. In his ruku‘, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would say "Subhana Rabbiyal ‘Azim" and in his prostration (sajdah) "Subhana Rabbiyal A‘la". Whenever he passed by a verse of mercy, he would pause and supplicate, and whenever he passed by a verse of punishment, he would pause and seek refuge from it.
