حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْوَلِيدَ أَبَا الْمُغِيرَةِ، أَوِ الْمُغِيرَةَ أَبَا الْوَلِيدِ يُحَدِّثُ، أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي ذَرِبُ اللِّسَانِ، وَإِنَّ عَامَّةَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَهْلِي، فَقَالَ: " أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنَ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ؟ "، فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ ـ أَوْ فِي الْيَوْمِ ـ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when speaking with my family, I could not control my tongue, although this did not happen with others. I mentioned this to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Hudhaifa! Why are you negligent of seeking forgiveness? I myself repent and seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times every day."
