Musnad Ahmad Hadith 23342

It is narrated from Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that in manners and character, the one who most closely resembled the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). From the time he left his house until he returned, I do not know what he did inside his house. Shaqiq says that once we went to Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him to tell us of a person who was closest to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in manners and character, so that we could learn these ways from him and listen to his words. He replied that in manners and character, the one who was closest to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), to the extent that he would sit in his house hiding from me, even though the trusted companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) knew that Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was the closest to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) among all of them.
