Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِىِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَمِنًا أَنْ يَقُولَ: إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ (١) ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: " اللهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَحْيَا، وَبِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ "، فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ: " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانِي بَعْدَمَا أَمَاتَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would come to his bed at night, he would say: "O Allah! In Your name we live and die." And when he would wake up, he would say: "All praise is due to Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the gathering."
