حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَمَرَ بِرَجْمِ رَجُلٍ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ، فَلَمَّا وَجَدَ مَسَّ الْحِجَارَةِ خَرَجَ فَهَرَبَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " فَهَلَّا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) ordered regarding a man that he should be stoned between Makkah and Madinah. When stones struck him, he began to run away. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) came to know of this, he said: Why did you not let him go?
