Musnad Ahmad Hadith 22623

Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) had a debt upon a man. When he would go to demand it from him, the man would hide. One day, he reached his house and a child came out from there. He asked the child about him, so the child informed that yes! He is at home and eating food. Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) called out his name and said, "Come outside, I have found out that you are inside." He came outside, so he asked him, "Why do you keep hiding from me?" He said, "I am destitute and I have nothing." He said, "Swear by Allah that you have nothing?" He said, "Indeed, it is so." Upon this, Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said, "I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever gives respite to his debtor or forgives his debt, he will be under the shade of the Throne of Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
