حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَسَّانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ فِي طَلِيعَةٍ قِبَلَ غَيْقَةَ، وَوَدَّانَ وَهُوَ، ، مُحْرِمٌ، وَأَبُو قَتَادَةَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ، فَإِذَا حِمَارُ وَحْشٍ فَطَلَبَ مِنْهُمْ سَوْطًا فَلَمْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ، فَاخْتَلَسَ سَوْطَ بَعْضِهِمْ فَصَادَ حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَأَكَلُوهُ، ثُمَّ لَحِقُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالْأَبْوَاءِ قَالُوا: إِنَّا صَنَعْنَا شَيْئًا لَا نَدْرِي مَا هُوَ؟ فَقَالَ: " أَطْعِمُونَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sent a detachment towards Ghaiqah and Waddan. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was in the state of Ihram, but Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) had not put on Ihram. Suddenly, I saw a wild donkey. I requested them to hand me a whip, but they refused to help me because they were in the state of Ihram. Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) quickly took a whip from one of them and hunted that wild donkey. The people ate it, and when we met the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) at the place of Abwa, we submitted that we had done something whose reality we do not know. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Feed us from it as well.
