Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out on a journey with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). At night, we said, "O Messenger of Allah! If we camp for a little while, it would be better." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I fear that you may sleep through the time of prayer, so who will wake us for the prayer?" Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! I will wake you." So the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) camped, and we all lay down. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) also sat leaning against his mount, and he too fell asleep. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) woke up when the sun had already risen. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) woke Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Bilal! What happened to the thing you told us?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah! By the One Who sent you with the truth, such sleep has never overcome me before." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah, the Exalted, kept your souls in His possession for as long as He willed, and then returned them when He willed." Then he ordered the people, so they dispersed to relieve themselves, performed ablution, and when the sun had risen high, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) led them in the Fajr prayer.
