حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ سَمِعَ جَلَبَةَ رِجَالٍ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى دَعَاهُمْ فَقَالَ: " مَا شَأْنُكُمْ؟ " قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ. قَالَ: " فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةَ، فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا، وَمَا سُبِقْتُمْ (١) فَأَتِمُّوا " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were praying with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) when we heard the sound of some people running. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) called them after finishing the prayer and asked, "What was the matter?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah! We wanted to join the prayer quickly." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not do so. When you come for prayer, make calmness and tranquility obligatory upon yourselves. Pray as much as you catch, and complete what you miss."
