حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ إِيَاسٍ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ،، ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ: سَنَةٍ مَاضِيَةٍ، وَسَنَةٍ مُسْتَقْبَلَةٍ، وَصَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Fasting on the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah) is an expiation for two years, and fasting on the Day of Ashura is an expiation for one year.
