حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ يَنْعُمَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ جَشِيبٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: دُعِينَا إِلَى وَلِيمَةٍ وَهُوَ مَعَنَا، فَلَمَّا شَبِعَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ قَامَ فَقَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَقُومُ مَقَامِي هَذَا خَطِيبًا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا شَبِعَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ قَالَ: " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
Khalid bin Ma'dan says that once we were present at the invitation of Abdul A'la bin Bilal. After finishing the meal, Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, "I have stood here, but I am neither a preacher nor have I stood up with the intention of giving a speech. However, I heard the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recite this supplication after finishing the meal: 'Alhamdulillah katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feehi ghayra makfiyyin wa laa muwadda'in wa laa mustaghna anhu.' Khalid says that Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) repeated these words so many times that we memorized them."
