حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ، سَمِعَ أَبَا نَصْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ. قَالَ: " عَلَيْكَ بِالصَّوْمِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَا عِدْلَ لَهُ " أَوْ قَالَ: " لَا مِثْلَ لَهُ " (٤)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he presented himself before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "Command me to do an action that will admit me to Paradise." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Make fasting obligatory upon yourself, for there is no action like fasting."
