Musnad Ahmad Hadith 22188

Abu Ghalib Rasbi says that in the city of Homs, he met Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), so he asked some questions to Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him). During this, Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) say: "When a Muslim servant hears the call to prayer (adhan) and stands up to perform ablution (wudu), then as soon as the first drop of water falls from his hands, his sins begin to be forgiven, and according to the number of those drops of water, when he completes his ablution, all his past sins are forgiven. And when he stands for prayer, it becomes a means for the elevation of his ranks." And Ghalib asked Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you really hear this hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)?" He replied, "Yes! By the One who sent the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner with the truth, not once or twice, but dozens of times I have heard it," and he counted all the numbers by clapping both his hands.
