Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) that once (the Prophet’s granddaughter) Umaymah bint Zaynab was brought to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), and her soul was departing as if it were in a waterskin. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: “What was taken is Allah’s, and what was given is Allah’s, and everything has an appointed time with Him.” Tears began to flow from the eyes of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). Seeing this, Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, “O Messenger of Allah! Are you also weeping?” He replied, “This is mercy which Allah places in the hearts of whomever He wills among His servants, and Allah shows mercy only to those of His servants who are merciful.”
