Musnad Ahmad Hadith 21658

It is narrated from Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) at a place in Madinah Munawwarah where there were some graves. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was riding a mule at that time, when suddenly the mule became startled and was about to throw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) off. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Does anyone know whose graves these are?" A man replied, "O Messenger of Allah! These people died during the time of ignorance." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If it were not for the fear that you would stop burying your dead, I would have prayed to Allah to let you hear some of the punishment of the grave." Then he said to us, "Seek Allah's protection from the punishment of Hell." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the punishment of Hell." Then he said, "Seek Allah's protection from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal)." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal)." Then he said, "Seek Allah's protection from the punishment of the grave." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the punishment of the grave." Then he said, "Seek Allah's protection from the trials of life and death." We said, "We seek Allah's protection from the trials of life and death."
