Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ إِذَا احْتَجَمَ احْتَجَمَ فِي الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ، قَالَ: فَدَعَا غُلامًا لِبَنِي بَيَاضَةَ فَحَجَمَهُ، وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ مُدًّا وَنِصْفًا، قَالَ: وَكَلَّمَ مَوَالِيَهُ، فَحَطُّوا عَنْهُ نِصْفَ مُدٍّ، وَكَانَ عَلَيْهِ مُدَّانِ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said:
The people started asking about prayer when travelling. He said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) departed from his family, he would only pray two rak'ahs [in a prescribed four rak'ah] prayer until he came back to his family.
