حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، وَعَفَّانُ، الْمَعْنَى، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ بُرْدٍ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، قَالَ عَفَّانُ: قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا بُرْدٌ أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ، عَنْ غُضَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَقَالَ: نِعْمَ الْفَتَى غُضَيْفٌ، فَلَقِيَهُ أَبُو ذَرٍّ، فَقَالَ: أَيْ أُخَيَّ اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي. قَالَ: أَنْتَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَسْتَغْفِرَ لِي فَقَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَقُولُ: نِعْمَ الْفَتَى غُضَيْفٌ، وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "إِنَّ اللهَ ضَرَبَ بِالْحَقِّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ " قَالَ عَفَّانُ: "عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ بِهِ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
Ghudaif bin Harith says that once he passed by Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), and Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Ghudaif is an excellent young man." Then he met Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said, "Brother! Pray for my forgiveness." Ghudaif said, "You are a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and you are more deserving that you pray for my forgiveness." He replied, "I heard Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) say that Ghudaif is an excellent young man, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that Allah has made the truth flow on Umar's tongue and heart."
