حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ أُبَيٍّ، قَالَ: لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلُ عِنْدَ أَحْجَارِ الْمِرَاءِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِجِبْرِيلَ: "إِنِّي بُعِثْتُ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ أُمِّيِّينَ، فِيهِمُ الشَّيْخُ الْعَاسِي، (٢) وَالْعَجُوزَةُ (٣) الْكَبِيرَةُ، وَالْغُلَامُ " قَالَ: فَمُرْهُمْ، فَلْيَقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Zur on the authority of Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Angel Jibreel (peace be upon him) met the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) at the place of "Ahjaz al-Mara". The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to him: I have been sent to a nation that is unlettered, among whom are extremely old men and women, and slaves as well. So Angel Jibreel (peace be upon him) submitted: Command them that they recite the Noble Qur'an upon seven letters.
