حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الشَّاعِرُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، أَنَا سَأَلْتُهُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَال: سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ، ، ابْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ: أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ لَمَّا رَكَضَ زَمْزَمَ بِعَقِبِهِ، جَعَلَتْ أُمُّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ تَجْمَعُ الْبَطْحَاءَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "رَحِمَ اللهُ هَاجَرَ أُمَّ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، لَوْ تَرَكَتْهَا لَكَانَتْ مَاءً مَعِينًا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) with reference to Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Jibreel (peace be upon him) struck his heel and caused the well of Zamzam to flow, the mother of Ismail (peace be upon him) began gathering pebbles to make a boundary. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "May Allah's mercy be upon Hajrah (peace be upon her), who was the mother of Ismail (peace be upon him). If she had left it as it was, it would have become a flowing stream."
