حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ الطَّائِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا تَصُفُّونَ كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ " قَالَ: قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَكَيْفَ تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ: " يُتَمِّمُونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُوَلَ، وَيَتَرَاصُّونَ فِي الصَّفِّ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
Then one day the Prophet (peace be upon him) came out and said to us, "Why do you not align your rows as the angels align before their Lord?" The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how do the angels align before their Lord?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "They complete the front rows first and fill the gaps in the rows."
