Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: " كَانَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُؤَذِّنُ، ثُمَّ يُمْهِلُ، وَلَا يُقِيمُ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَرَجَ، أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ يَرَاهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet’s (ﷺ) muezzin would give the adhan, he would wait for a while and would not say the iqamah until he saw the Prophet (ﷺ) coming out. When he saw that the Prophet (ﷺ) had come out, he would then begin the iqamah.
