حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: يَثْرِبَ، وَالْمَدِينَةَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّاهَا طَيْبَةَ " (٢)، •

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that people used to call Madinah Munawwarah as Yathrib. The Prophet (ﷺ) said that Allah has named Madinah as Tayyibah.
