English translation
Simak says that I asked Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) whether he used to attend the gatherings of the Prophet (ﷺ). He replied, "Yes, the Prophet (ﷺ) would not get up from the place where he offered the Fajr prayer until the sun had risen. When the sun would rise, he would get up. He would remain mostly silent and laugh little. However, in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ), the companions would talk and mention incidents from the days of ignorance and laugh, but the Prophet (ﷺ) would only smile."
