حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ قَرْمٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا، فَمَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّهُ رَآهُ قَطُّ (١) يَخْطُبُ إِلَّا قَائِمًا، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ، وَلَكِنَّهُ رُبَّمَا خَرَجَ وَرَأَى النَّاسَ فِي قِلَّةٍ فَجَلَسَ، ثُمَّ يَثُوبُونَ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) delivering the sermon while standing. Therefore, if anyone among you states that he saw the Prophet (ﷺ) in any position other than standing, he is stating incorrectly. However, sometimes it would happen that the Prophet (ﷺ) would come there and, seeing that the number of people was small, would sit down. When the people arrived, the Prophet (ﷺ) would stand up and deliver the sermon.
