Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a family living in Harrah whose members were poor and needy. Near them, either their own or someone else's she-camel died. A man came to them to ask about its ruling. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Do you have anything that would make you independent of it?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) then granted them permission to eat it (due to the state of necessity).
