حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ: أَكُنْتَ تُجَالِسُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، وَكَانَ طَوِيلَ الصَّمْتِ، قَلِيلَ الضَّحِكِ، وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَذْكُرُونَ عِنْدَهُ الشِّعْرَ، وَأَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أُمُورِهِمْ، فَيَضْحَكُونَ، وَرُبَّمَا، ، تَبَسَّمَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Samaat says that I asked Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you participate in the gatherings of the Prophet (ﷺ)?" He replied, "Yes. The Prophet (ﷺ) would remain silent most of the time and would laugh little. However, in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ), the companions would sometimes recite poetry and mention their affairs and laugh, and the Prophet (ﷺ) would also smile."
