Abu Alaa says that I was sitting with Mutarrif in the camel market when a Bedouin came. He had a piece of leather with him. He said, "Does anyone among you know how to read?" I said, "Yes," and took that piece of leather from him. It was written on it: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, to Banu Zuhayrah bin Aqeesh, which is a tribe of 'Ukl. If they acknowledge the share of the Prophet (ﷺ) and the selection from the spoils of war (ghanimah), then they are under the protection of Allah and His Messenger." Someone asked that Bedouin, "Have you heard anything from the Prophet (ﷺ) that you can narrate to us?" He said, "Yes." The people said to him, "Then narrate it to us as well, may Allah have mercy on you." He said, "I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever wishes that the malice in his chest be removed, he should fast the month of patience (Ramadan) and three days in every month." Someone asked him, "Did you really hear this hadith yourself from the Prophet (ﷺ)?" He said, "I did not think that you would accuse me of lying about the Prophet (ﷺ). By Allah, after today I will never narrate any hadith to you again." Then he left.
