حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُمْهَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَتَنْزِلُنَّ أَرْضًا يُقَالُ لَهَا: الْبَصْرَةُ، أَوِ الْبُصَيْرَةُ عَلَى دِجْلَةَ نَهَرٌ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ، قَالَ، ، الْعَوَّامُ: بَنُو قَنْطُورَاءَ هُمُ التُّرْكُ (١)،
Translation
English translation
Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, al-‘Awwam ibn Hawshab informed us, from Sa‘id ibn Jumhan, from Ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You will surely settle in a land called al-Basrah or al-Busayrah on the Tigris, a river..." — and he mentioned its meaning. Al-‘Awwam said: Banu Qantura are the Turks.
