وحَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَ الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: " سَامُ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ، وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ، وَحَامُ أَبُو الْحَبَشِ " (١)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Sam is the ancestor of the Arabs, Ham is the ancestor of the Abyssinians, and Yafith is the ancestor of the Romans.
