حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ، وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، الْمَعْنَى، قَالُوا: أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ،، ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ مِنْ قِرْبَةٍ عِنْدَ امْرَأَةٍ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ، فَقَالَ: " أَلَيْسَ قَدْ دَبَغْتِيهَا؟ " قَالَتْ: بَلَى، قَالَ: " دِبَاغُهَا ذَكَاتُهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a house in whose courtyard a waterskin was hanging. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked those people for water to drink, so they said that it was made from the skin of a dead animal. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Tanning is the purification of the skin."
