Sayyar bin Salalah says that once I was present with my father in the company of Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, I had earrings in my ears and I was young. Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I thank Allah that I keep reproaching this tribe of Quraysh. Here, such and such a person fights for the sake of the world, meaning Abdul Malik bin Marwan, and he also mentioned Ibn Azraq. Then he said: Among this group, the most beloved to me is the one whose stomach is free from the wealth of Muslims and whose back is not burdened with their blood. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The rulers will be from the Quraysh. When mercy is sought from them, they will show mercy; when they make a promise, they will fulfill it; and when they judge, they will judge with justice. And whoever does not do so, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all mankind.
