حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَهُ يَسْأَلُهُ قَالَ: فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ اسْتَقَلَّهُ، فَحَلَفَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ، فَرَأَى غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا، فَلْيَأْتِ الَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ، وَلْيُكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ " (٣)، ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: " هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مَا سَمِعْتُهُ قَطُّ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا مِنْ أَبِي " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to him and asked him for one hundred dirhams. He said, "You are only asking me for one hundred dirhams while I am the son of Hatim Tai. By Allah, I will not give you anything." Then he said, "I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever swears an oath about something and then sees something else as better, let him do that which is better (and offer expiation for his oath)."
