Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا خُيِّرَتْ بَرِيرَةُ رَأَيْتُ زَوْجَهَا يَتْبَعُهَا فِي سِكَكِ، ، الْمَدِينَةِ، وَدُمُوعُهُ تَسِيلُ عَلَى لِحْيَتِهِ، فَكُلِّمَ الْعَبَّاسُ لِيُكَلِّمَ فِيهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِبَرِيرَةَ: " إِنَّهُ زَوْجُكِ "، قَالَتْ: تَأْمُرُنِي بِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا أَنَا شَافِعٌ " قَالَ: فَخَيَّرَهَا، فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا وَكَانَ عَبْدًا لِآلِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، يُقَالُ لَهُ: مُغِيثٌ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Ibn "Abbas that
the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about the children of the mushrikeen (who died). He said: "Allah knows best what they would have done."
