Translation

English translation

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:

When Bareerah was given the option (of divorce), I saw her husband following her in the alleyways of Madinah with tears streaming down on to his beard. Someone asked al-"Abbas to speak to the Prophet (ﷺ) about him, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to Bareerah: "He is your husband." She said: Are you enjoining me (to stay with him), O Messenger of Allah? He said: "I am just interceding.” He gave her the choice, and she chose herself (i.e., divorce). He was a slave belonging to the family of al-Mugheerah and his name was Mugheeth.
