حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَمَلَنِي أَبِي بَشِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اشْهَدْ أَنِّي قَدْ نَحَلْتُ النُّعْمَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا، شَيْئًا سَمَّاهُ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ نَحَلْتَ مِثْلَ الَّذِي نَحَلْتَ النُّعْمَانَ؟ " قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " فَأَشْهِدْ غَيْرِي "، قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلَيْسَ يَسُرُّكَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا إِلَيْكَ فِي الْبِرِّ سَوَاءً؟ "، قَالَ: بَلَى، قَالَ: " فَلَا إِذًا " (١)، ، °
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) that my father took me to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please bear witness that I have given such and such things to Nu'man." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Have you given the same to all your sons as you have given to him?" He replied, "No." So the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then make someone else a witness." After a little while, he said, "Do you not like that they should all be equal with you in kindness?" He said, "Why not." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Then it will not be so."
