Abu Majliz (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) offered a brief prayer. Someone asked him the reason for this, and he replied, "I did not differ in the least from the prayer of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ)." Abu Majliz (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in a very brief prayer. People were surprised at this, so he said, "I did not complete the bowing and prostration." People asked, "Why not?" He replied, "In it, I made a supplication which the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) used to make, and it is this: O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, grant me life as long as You know life is better for me, and when death is better for me, then cause me to die. I ask You for fear of You in the open and in secret, for speaking the word of truth in anger and in pleasure, for moderation in poverty and in wealth. I ask for the delight of seeing Your noble face and the longing to meet You. I seek refuge in You from harmful things and from misleading trials. O Allah, adorn us with the beauty of faith and make us guided and guiding others."
