حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ " قَالَ: فَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ حَتَّى ظَنَنَّا أَنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ " وَأَشَاحَ بِوَجْهِهِ قَالَ مَرَّتَيْنِ، أَوْ ثَلَاثًا،: " اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَبِكَلِمَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Save yourselves from the fire of Hell." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) turned his face away in aversion as if he were seeing Hell. This happened two or three times. Then he said: "Save yourselves from the fire of Hell, even if it be by giving only a piece of a date. And if that is not available, then speak a good word."
