حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اجْعَلْنِي إِمَامَ قَوْمِي، قَالَ: " اقْتَدِ بِأَضْعَفِهِمْ، وَاتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لَا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى أَذَانِهِ (١) أَجْرًا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that I once submitted in the court of the Messenger (ﷺ), "O Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) Appoint me as the imam of my people." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You are the imam of your people. Lead the prayer while considering the weakest among them, and appoint a muezzin who does not take any wage for his call to prayer."
