حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، أَنَّ مُطَرِّفًا، رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ الثَّقَفِيَّ دَعَا لَهُ بِلَبَنٍ لِيَسْقِيَهُ، قَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ، كَجُنَّةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنَ الْقِتَالِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Fasting is a shield just like you use a shield in the battlefield. And I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: The best fast is three days in every month.
