Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ طَلْحَةَ (٢) ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَؤُمَّ قَوْمَهُ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: " مَنْ أَمَّ قَوْمًا فَلْيُخَفِّفْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ، وَالْكَبِيرَ، وَالْمَرِيضَ، وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ فَلْيُصَلِّ كَيْفَ شَاءَ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Lead your people in prayer, and when you lead, make the prayer short, because among the people are children, the elderly, the weak, the sick, and those with needs. However, whoever prays alone may pray as he wishes.
