Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ الرَّبَابِ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى تَمْرٍ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ تَمْرًا فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى مَاءٍ فَإِنَّهُ لَهُ طَهُورٌ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated in a mawquf form from Salman bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when any one of you breaks his fast, he should break it with dates; if dates are not available, then he should break it with water, for water is purifying.
