Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، عَنِ الرَّبَابِ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ بِتَمْرٍ (٥) ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ بِمَاءٍ، فَإِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ "، ، وَقَالَ: " مَعَ الْغُلَامِ عَقِيقَتُهُ فَأَهْرِيقُوا عَنْهُ دَمًا وَأَمِيطُوا عَنْهُ الْأَذَى "، وَقَالَ: " الصَّدَقَةُ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ، وَعَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ اثْنَتَانِ صِلَةٌ، وَصَدَقَةٌ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Salman bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when any one of you breaks his fast, he should break it with dates; if dates are not available, then he should break it with water because water is purifying.
