حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ مَالِكَ بْنَ صَعْصَعَةَ، حَدَّثَهُ: أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ لَيْلَةِ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ قَالَ: " بَيْنَا أَنَا فِي الْحَطِيمِ، - وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: فِي الْحِجْرِ - مُضْطَجِعٌ إِذْ أَتَانِي آتٍ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ الْأَوْسَطِ بَيْنَ الثَّلَاثَةِ، قَالَ: فَأَتَانِي فَقَدَّ - وَسَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يَقُولُ: - فَشَقَّ مَا، ، بَيْنَ هَذِهِ إِلَى هَذِهِ "، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: فَقُلْتُ لِلْجَارُودِ (١) ، وَهُوَ إِلَى جَنْبِي مَا يَعْنِي، قَالَ: " مِنْ ثُغْرَةِ نَحْرِهِ إِلَى شِعْرَتِهِ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مِنْ قَصَّهِ (٢) إِلَى شِعْرَتِهِ " قَالَ: " فَاسْتُخْرِجَ قَلْبِي فَأُتِيتُ بِطَسْتٍ (٣) مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مَمْلُوءَةٍ إِيمَانًا وَحِكْمَةً، فَغُسِلَ قَلْبِي، ثُمَّ حُشِيَ، ثُمَّ أُعِيدَ، ثُمَّ أُتِيتُ بِدَابَّةٍ دُونَ الْبَغْلِ وَفَوْقَ الْحِمَارِ أَبْيَضَ " قَالَ: فَقَالَ الْجَارُودُ: هُوَ الْبُرَاقُ يَا أَبَا حَمْزَةَ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ يَقَعُ خَطْوُهُ عِنْدَ أَقْصَى طَرْفِهِ "، قَالَ: " فَحُمِلْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَانْطَلَقَ بِي جِبْرِيلُ حَتَّى أَتَى بِيَ السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، فَقِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ جَاءَ، قَالَ: فَفُتِحَ، فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ، فَإِذَا فِيهَا آدَمُ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا أَبُوكَ آدَمُ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالِابْنِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ،، قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ الثَّانِيَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، فَقِيلَ مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ جَاءَ، قَالَ:، ، فَفُتِحَ، فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ، فَإِذَا يَحْيَى وَعِيسَى، وَهُمَا ابْنَا الْخَالَةِ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا يَحْيَى وَعِيسَى، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِمَا، قَالَ: فَسَلَّمْتُ، فَرَدَّا السَّلَامَ، ثُمَّ قَالَا: مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَخِ الصَّالِحِ وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ الثَّالِثَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ فَقِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ جَاءَ، قَالَ: فَفُتِحَ فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ، فَإِذَا يُوسُفُ، قَالَ: هَذَا يُوسُفُ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ، وَقَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَخِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ، ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ الرَّابِعَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، فَقِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: مَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: وَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ، جَاءَ، قَالَ: فَفُتِحَ، فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ، فَإِذَا إِدْرِيسُ، قَالَ: هَذَا إِدْرِيسُ فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَخِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ الْخَامِسَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، فَقِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ جَاءَ، قَالَ: فَفُتِحَ فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ، فَإِذَا هَارُونُ، قَالَ: هَذَا هَارُونُ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ: فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ، ثُمَّ، قَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَخِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ السَّادِسَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، قِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ، جَاءَ فَفُتِحَ، فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِمُوسَى، قَالَ: هَذَا مُوسَى فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالْأَخِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا تَجَاوَزْتُ بَكَى، قِيلَ لَهُ: مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ قَالَ: أَبْكِي لِأَنَّ غُلَامًا بُعِثَ بَعْدِي، يَدْخُلُ (١) الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا يَدْخُلُهَا مِنْ أُمَّتِي، قَالَ: ثُمَّ صَعِدَ حَتَّى أَتَى السَّمَاءَ السَّابِعَةَ، فَاسْتَفْتَحَ، قِيلَ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ، قِيلَ: وَمَنْ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ، قِيلَ: أَوَقَدْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: مَرْحَبًا بِهِ، وَنِعْمَ الْمَجِيءُ جَاءَ، قَالَ فَفُتِحَ، فَلَمَّا خَلَصْتُ فَإِذَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَرَدَّ السَّلَامَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: مَرْحَبًا بِالِابْنِ الصَّالِحِ، وَالنَّبِيِّ الصَّالِحِ.، قَالَ: ثُمَّ رُفِعَتْ إِلَيَّ سِدْرَةُ الْمُنْتَهَى، فَإِذَا نَبْقُهَا مِثْلُ قِلَالِ هَجَرَ، وَإِذَا وَرَقُهَا مِثْلُ آذَانِ الْفِيَلَةِ، فَقَالَ: هَذِهِ سِدْرَةُ الْمُنْتَهَى، قَالَ: وَإِذَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَنْهَارٍ: نَهَرَانِ بَاطِنَانِ، وَنَهَرَانِ ظَاهِرَانِ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا هَذَا يَا جِبْرِيلُ؟ قَالَ: أَمَّا الْبَاطِنَانِ فَنَهَرَانِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَمَّا الظَّاهِرَانِ، ، فَالنِّيلُ وَالْفُرَاتُ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ رُفِعَ لِيَ الْبَيْتُ الْمَعْمُورُ "، قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى (١) الْبَيْتَ الْمَعْمُورَ يَدْخُلُهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ، ثُمَّ لَا يَعُودُونَ فِيهِ (٢) ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى حَدِيثِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: ثُمَّ أُتِيتُ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ خَمْرٍ، وَإِنَاءٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ، وَإِنَاءٍ مِنْ عَسَلٍ، قَالَ: فَأَخَذْتُ اللَّبَنَ، قَالَ: " هَذِهِ الْفِطْرَةُ أَنْتَ عَلَيْهَا وَأُمَّتُكَ "، قَالَ: " ثُمَّ فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ خَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ فَمَرَرْتُ عَلَى مُوسَى، فَقَالَ: بِمَ (٣) أُمِرْتَ؟ قَالَ: أُمِرْتُ بِخَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ لِخَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً، وَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ، فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ، فَوَضَعَ عَنِّي عَشْرًا، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى، فَقَالَ: بِمَا أُمِرْتَ؟، قُلْتُ: بِأَرْبَعِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ أَرْبَعِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ، وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ، فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ، فَوَضَعَ عَنِّي عَشْرًا أُخْرَى، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى، فَقَالَ لِي: بِمَ، ، أُمِرْتَ؟ قُلْتُ: أُمِرْتُ بِثَلَاثِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ: لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ لِثَلَاثِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ، وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ، فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ، فَوَضَعَ عَنِّي عَشْرًا أُخَرَ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى، فَقَالَ: بِمَا أُمِرْتَ؟ قُلْتُ: بِعِشْرِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ لِعِشْرِينَ صَلَاةً كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ فَأُمِرْتُ بِعَشْرِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى فَقَالَ: بِمَا أُمِرْتَ؟ قُلْتُ بِعَشْرِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ لِعَشْرِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ، فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ فَأُمِرْتُ بِخَمْسِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى مُوسَى فَقَالَ: بِمَا أُمِرْتَ؟ قُلْتُ أُمِرْتُ بِخَمْسِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ لِخَمْسِ صَلَوَاتٍ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ خَبَرْتُ النَّاسَ قَبْلَكَ وَعَالَجْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَشَدَّ الْمُعَالَجَةِ فَارْجِعْ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَاسْأَلْهُ التَّخْفِيفَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: قَدْ سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي حَتَّى اسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْهُ، وَلَكِنْ أَرْضَى وَأُسَلِّمُ فَلَمَّا نَفَذْتُ نَادَى مُنَادٍ، قَدْ أَمْضَيْتُ فَرِيضَتِي، وَخَفَّفْتُ عَنْ عِبَادِي " Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Malik bin Sa’sa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Once, while I was between sleep and wakefulness near the House of Allah, one of three men came forward between two men. Then a basin of gold was brought to me, filled with wisdom and faith. He split open my body from the chest to the abdomen, washed my heart with the water of Zamzam, and filled it with wisdom and faith. Then a beast was brought to me, smaller than a mule and larger than a donkey, whose one step reached as far as the eye could see. I set out with Jibreel (peace be upon him). We reached the lowest heaven. It was asked, “Who is it?” He replied, “Jibreel!” It was asked, “Who is with you?” He replied, “Muhammad (ﷺ)!” It was asked, “Has he been called?” He replied, “Yes!” The angels said, “Welcome! What an excellent arrival!” There I met Adam (peace be upon him) and greeted him. He said, “Welcome to the son and the Prophet! What an excellent arrival!” The same questions and answers occurred at the second heaven, where I met Yahya and ‘Isa (peace be upon them), and they called me brother instead of son. The same questions and answers occurred at the third heaven, where I met Yusuf (peace be upon him), and he also called me brother. The same questions and answers occurred at the fourth heaven, where I met Idris (peace be upon him), and he also called me brother. The same questions and answers occurred at the fifth heaven, where I met Haroon (peace be upon him), and he also called me brother. The same questions and answers occurred at the sixth heaven, where I met Musa (peace be upon him), and he also called me brother. When I moved ahead after meeting Musa (peace be upon him), he began to weep. It was asked, “Why are you weeping?” He replied, “O Lord! This young man whom You have sent after me—his ummah will enter Paradise in greater numbers than my ummah.” Then we reached the seventh heaven, and the same questions and answers occurred. There I met Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and when I greeted him, he said, “Welcome to the son and the Prophet!” Then the Bayt al-Ma’mur was presented before me. I asked Jibreel (peace be upon him) about it, and he said, “This is Bayt al-Ma’mur. Every day seventy thousand angels pray in it, and when they leave, they never return again.” Then the Sidrat al-Muntaha was presented before me. Its berries were like the pitchers of Hajar, and its leaves were as large as elephant ears. At its root, four rivers were flowing—two hidden and two apparent. I asked Jibreel (peace be upon him) about them, and he said, “The hidden rivers are in Paradise, and the apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates.” Then a vessel of wine, a vessel of milk, and a vessel of honey were presented before me. I took the vessel of milk. Jibreel (peace be upon him) said, “This is the true nature upon which you and your ummah are.” Then fifty prayers were made obligatory upon me. When I passed by Musa (peace be upon him), he asked, “What happened?” I replied, “Fifty prayers have been made obligatory upon me.” Musa (peace be upon him) said, “I know the nature of people well. I have tested the Children of Israel thoroughly. Your ummah will not be able to bear this. So return to your Lord and request a reduction.” So I returned to my Lord and requested a reduction, and the Lord reduced them to forty. Again, when I passed by Musa (peace be upon him), the same questions and answers occurred, and ten more prayers were reduced. In this way, ten by ten, they were reduced until finally only five remained. Even then, Musa (peace be upon him) advised me to seek further reduction, but the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Now I feel shy before my Lord to go again.” At that moment, a voice came, “I have decreed My obligation and have reduced it for My servants, and I will give a reward of tenfold for every good deed.” The previous hadith is also narrated with a slight difference in wording from this second chain.
