Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ شُرَيْحٍ (١) ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ نَوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " كَبُرَتْ خِيَانَةً تُحَدِّثُ أَخَاكَ حَدِيثًا هُوَ لَكَ مُصَدِّقٌ، وَأَنْتَ بِهِ كَاذِبٌ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Nawas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "It is a great betrayal that you say something to your brother, he considers you truthful, while you are lying to him."
