حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَابِرٍ، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنِي بُسْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ (١) اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّوَّاسَ بْنَ سَمْعَانَ الْكِلَابِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَا مِنْ قَلْبٍ إِلَّا وَهُوَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ، إِنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُقِيمَهُ أَقَامَهُ، وَإِنْ (٢) شَاءَ أَنْ يُزِيغَهُ أَزَاغَهُ " وَكَانَ يَقُولُ: " يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى دِينِكَ، وَالْمِيزَانُ بِيَدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يَخْفِضُهُ وَيَرْفَعُهُ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Nawwas bin Sam'an (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: All hearts are between two fingers from among the fingers of the Lord of the worlds. If He wills to keep any heart straight, He keeps it straight, and if He wills to make it crooked, He makes it crooked. And the Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate: O Turner of the hearts! Make our hearts steadfast upon Your religion. And the scale of deeds is in the hand of the Most Merciful; He raises it and lowers it.
